SEcTION 13 VERTICAL CIRCULATION ELEMENTS SEcTION: 13 VERTICAL CIRCULATION ELEMENTS
13.1 STAIRcASES 13.1.6 For normal staircases the following relationship to be satisfied:
2 *R +*T= 0.62 meter.
13.1.1 At Least one main staircase shall be provided in all types of
buildings with more than one floor. Maximum riser shall be 0.175 meter.
Minimum tread shall be 0.27 meter. (figure -40)
13.1.2 One main staircase shall be provided to buildings whose total
building area is less than 1400.0 square meters and floor area of *T ≥ 0.27 m ≥ 0.03 m
less than 450.0 square meters.
13.1.3 In general, for any additional area, from 450.0 to 950.0 square
meters per floor or from 1400.0 to 2800.0 square meters per total
building area, an additional staircase shall be provided. *R ≤ 0.175 m
13.1.4 All steps shall be identical in height and width and the clear
width of the stair landing shall not be less than the clear width of ≥ 0.03 m
the stair, and shall not be less than 1.1 meter for residential and
office buildings, and 1.5 meter for public buildings. (figure -39)
